EDEX Mid-Year Expo 2026 Opens Doors to Local and Global Education and Career Opportunities
The EDEX Mid-Year Expo 2026, Sri Lanka’s premier education and career fair, will return to BMICH, Colombo, on September 5 and 6, bringing together education providers, employers and international exhibitors to help students, job seekers and professionals make informed decisions about their next step.
The expo, which is open to the public from 9.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. on both days, will give visitors access to around 45 prestigious educational institutions, ten corporates, and direct overseas exhibitors from Finland and Japan. The expo will serve as a one-stop destination for anyone seeking to broaden their education, skills, and career prospects by allowing visitors to explore higher education and employment opportunities in Sri Lanka and overseas.
His Excellency Badli Hisham Adam, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Sri Lanka and the Maldives, will ceremonially declare the event open as Chief Guest.
EDEX offers students who completed or are preparing for their O/Ls and A/Ls the chance to compare education pathways, research institutions, and learn about options outside of school. It gives parents and guardians a way to better understand the choices offered to their children. Professionals and job seekers can also use the expo to connect with employers and identify career development opportunities.
A key component of the EDEX Mid-Year Expo 2026 will be its Job Fair, which will bring together companies representing multiple industry sectors, offering job seekers and young professionals an opportunity to explore employment options and engage directly with potential employers. Participating companies represent industries including healthcare, consumer goods, agriculture, aviation, cargo and freight, telecommunications, automotive, transportation, software, banking and finance. The Job Fair is designed to connect individuals seeking employment and career progression with organizations looking for talent across a diverse range of industries.

The 2026 expo will strengthen its emphasis on opportunities that will enable Sri Lankan youth to participate in an increasingly global employment and education landscape. Visitors will have the chance to consider possibilities outside of Sri Lanka in addition to those offered locally, as international exhibitors from Finland and Japan will join local corporations and education providers.
Mr. Chathushika Nissanka, Project Chairman, EDEX Mid-Year Expo 2026 stated, “It is not necessary for visitors to begin with all the answers. EDEX offers a platform for people to compare options, ask the right questions, and have direct conversations with organizations and institutions that can assist them in moving forward. There is something relevant to look into at the expo, whether one is choosing what to study, seeking an opportunity abroad, learning new skills, or looking for employment.”
For the first time in its history, EDEX has digitalised its Psychometric Test as part of its career guidance service, making the process more accessible and convenient for young people. Before visiting the Expo, participants can complete the Career Key online at their convenience using a mobile phone.
Participants can bring their results to the Expo on their smartphones or as a printout, where they will be interpreted by qualified career counsellors from the Ceylon Career Guidance Association (CCGA). The counsellors will provide individualised, one-on-one guidance based on each person’s interests, strengths, capabilities and aspirations. Parents can also participate in these sessions in the case of students.
The career guidance programme will assist students, parents, job seekers, young professionals, and members of the public in exploring appropriate education, training and career options based on their individual circumstances and the evolving demands of the job market.
The Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Education, Higher Education & Vocational Education, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Ministry of Labor, and Ministry of Environment have all endorsed the event, demonstrating the broader significance of education, skills development, and employment opportunities for the country’s youth.
The Employers’ Federation of Ceylon, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, and the Ceylon Career Guidance Association are the expo’s strategic partners. NIBM the City University, Mogo Media Academy, and Colombo Institute of Research & Psychology CIRP are the event’s platinum sponsors, while CINEC Campus, Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT), and Australian College of Business Technology (ACBT) are its gold sponsors. EDUCAST, a youth-focused podcast platform created to bring practical knowledge, inspiration and fresh perspectives to Sri Lankan youth, is an initiative of EDEX. It has featured 10 episodes with guests including Malinda Alahakoon, Dr. Kishu Gomes, Chathuranga Abeysinghe, Dulith Herath, Chalinda Abeykoon, Dhanika Perera, Yohani De Silva, Dushyanth Weeraman, Rumesh Tharanga and Dhanath Fernando.
Additionally, EDUSPORT, a sub-brand of EDEX 365, was recently introduced with the goal of empowering primary and secondary school students by connecting education and sport. In a short amount of time, the initiative will use sports and game-based learning techniques to foster critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. It will collaborate with sports like soccer, chess, and archery, drawing on approaches that have been effectively applied internationally to link sport and academic growth.
